Abstract: Studies on the effects of Samorin, a prophylactic trypanocide on some aspects of the biology of Glossina morsitans were carried out. The overall performance of flies fed on rabbits injected with the trypanocide was severely affected. There were indications that the trypanocide could have adversely affected the symbiotic gut micro-fauna of the flies. Hence it is suggested that Samorin has some potentials for vector ‘control
