ABSTRACT. A survey conducted in nine villages selected from the three. agricultural zones in Bauchi State in the rainy and dry seasons of 2001 and 2002 showed that Liriomyza sativae Blanchard attacked 23 cultivated and nine wild host plants. There were significant differences (P<0.05) between seasons and among zones in level of infestation. Dry season infestation was consistently higher than wet season infestation (24.6 vs. 19.2 infested plants per 0.36m2 in 2001 and 26.4 vs. 18.2 in 2002). The West zone had significantly higher infestation than the Northern zone (19.2 infested plants per 0.36m2 vs. 10.4 in 2001; 19.6 infested plants vs. 9.2 in 2002) but not the Central zone.
